Staving Off Senescence With Sapience

One of the most important things to understand about physical fitness (and resistance training in particular) is that it bolsters one’s vitality. Exercise literally makes one more ALIVE. The aging process can never be arrested, but it CAN bemitigated. Exercise literally slows the aging process down!

Here are some of the things exercise does for you:

Strengthens your immune system, rendering you more physically resilient—and thus less susceptible to sickness. (A more robust immune system solves MANY problems!)

      • Enhances your neuromuscular coordination.

      • Makes your bones more ductile (by making them more dense).

      • Strengthens your heart and lungs by making them more

efficient (e.g. augmenting your “VO2 Max”).

      • Increases your endurance, rendering you more capable of life’s

physical activities. It thereby increases your ability to do more

things in life—and do them more easily. (More capability for

doing things means more possibilities in general!)

      • Makes you less susceptible to injury (not only stronger bones and muscle tissue, but stronger ligaments          and tendons as well!)

      • Boosts your energy while awake...and helps you sleep deeper.

      • Improves your self-image / confidence

      • ...And the most obvious: It simply makes you physically STRONGER.

Physical fitness has many effects on your psychology as well...

  • It increases your overall ebullience and mental resilience.

  • It keeps you in high spirits and helps maintain your enthusiasm to be alive.

  • It renders you less prone to depression. Indeed, when you’re physically fit, you are less susceptible to doldrums and melancholy. It keeps your spirits up...especially during hard times.

  • It renders you more immune to anxiety. Exercise itself alleviates stress.

  • It bolsters your confidence and self-esteem.

There is no better thing one can invest in than one’s well-being: physically and mentally.

  • Exercise is invigorating and revitalizing. Exercise is about

    rejuvenation.

  • It’s FUN to be healthy and strong. (It’s also nice to look better

    too.)

  • Even more fundamentally: It feels good to FEEL GOOD!

  • Most importantly: Exercise keeps one physically and mentally

    YOUNG.

I may not be the head of a multi-billion dollar corporation, but I have the best job in the world. I do something that I can get excited about...and in the meantime, meet lots of wonderful people, and watch them improve and grow. Who could ask for more?
